Cooking Basics
Class A · Learn the Kitchen
Kitchen safety, cleanliness, recipes, kid-safe knife skills, spices, table setting, and food presentation.

Meal Makers
Class B · Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Students prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner while practicing the skills learned in Class A.

Start to Finish
Class C · Plan, Shop, Cook, and Serve
Students choose a recipe, make a shopping list, budget, grocery shop, cook, and serve parents.

Lesson Outline
Each class includes three hands-on lessons with simple recipes and practical life skills.
Class A — Cooking Basics
A1 — Basics and Brownies
Students will make: Brownies and sweet date bites.
Students will learn: Kitchen tour, kitchen safety, parts of a recipe, and clean cooking habits.
A2 — Chopping, Cutting, and Cookies
Students will make: Fruit art plates and tahini cookies.
Students will learn: Kid-safe knife skills, table setting, and food presentation.
A3 — Spiced Savory Snacks
Students will make: Sweet potato fries, lemon tahini dip, and guacamole.
Students will learn: Spices, flavor, and the “Name That Smelly Spice” game.
Class B — Meal Makers
B1 — Time for Breakfast
Students will make: Stewed spiced apples, muffins or quinoa porridge, and orange juice.
Students will learn: Breakfast preparation and basic meal planning.
B2 — Time for Lunch
Students will make: Fried rice, green beans, and carrot salad.
Students will learn: Lunch preparation and combining ingredients.
B3 — Time for Dinner
Students will make: Veggie rice soup, tahini sauce, and Japanese sweet potato.
Students will learn: Dinner preparation, hospitality, and serving parents.
Class C — Start to Finish
C1 — Plan the Meal
Students will make: Recipe selection and shopping list.
Students will learn: Choosing a recipe, ingredients, and cost.
C2 — Shop for Ingredients
Students will make: A grocery trip.
Students will learn: Finding ingredients, asking for help, adding costs, and paying.
C3 — Cook and Serve
Students will make: A student-selected recipe.
Students will learn: Preparing the meal and serving parents.
Completion Gift
My Kitchen Keepsake
Students who complete all three ABC cooking classes will receive a photo booklet made by Kellie.
Students will also personalize an apron and create a recipe book with recipe cards while practicing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, patience, and concentration.
